Eyre peninsula

Hey Guys! We’ve taken some other travellers advice and decided to explore the Eyre peninsula before going to Adelaide. So we’ve come down the left hand side first dropping into Smokey Bay and Streaky bay. Both extremely gorgeous bays, not so lucky with the weather here as its a bit overcast and cool but still really lovely. We are not staying along the western coast of the Eyre Peninsula because we just had to decide to stay somewhere so down the bottom made sense.WA might have turned it on for the beaches but SA is absolutely smashing out of the park … Continue reading Eyre peninsula

Esperance

Hello noodlepies! We’ve been exploring Esperance! One of the hardest things we have to do is decide on what to do and we constantly have FOMO. There is SO MUCH in every area we go to, and only so much time. So even though we are probably the most flexible of travellers we still have to prioritise what we think were going to enjoy the most and hope we don’t miss out on anything too fab.  Jon spent some time fishing in Brandy creek, and despite many locals promising there were lots of black bream not a fish was caught. … Continue reading Esperance

This is the Road that Never Ends….

Pasterinos! As expected there’s nothing on the Nullarbor! No but seriously, we did have to stop and wait for a herd of wild cattle to cross the road and fuel up in Norseman but that was about it until we got to Fraser’s Range! Frasers have a gorgeous stop that reminded me of Newman, where I grew up. Red dirt, a really nice campground, and a camp kitchen that serves huge dinners for $30! They also had a couple of camels, a couple of goats and some really cute work puppers! All the eagerness we felt to attack the Nullabor quickly … Continue reading This is the Road that Never Ends….

Scratch scratch!

Animal count of this blog: 6x lizards 2x bunnies 3x corellas 3x maccaws 5x cockatoos 10x other fancy birds 5x snakes 1x t-rex Jon and I visited the most amazing place. Well, we’ve visited a lot of amazing places but this one was an unexpected highlight. The Denmark Dinosaur world. They had a few dinosaur skeletons hung up, but the real highlight was the bird avaries out the back were incredible. They had a cockatoo named Sid, who loved to say “scratch, scratch?” before bending right down to let ac his neck. Thhey also had some old corellas who followed … Continue reading Scratch scratch!

Plain pasta for a few days.

So the Denmark region has SO MUCH TO DO. More than we thought. We’ve been exploring as much as we can until we’ve exhausted ourselves and fall into bed early after dinner. We’ve been very lucky to have had 2 days of bright sunshine and clear skies. There are some resident pelicans at our campgrounds who are super majestic. They apparently follow the fishermen in each morning for a hearty breakfast, they’re all very lovely and very well fed. Peaceful Bay was a stunner followed by a spur of the moment decision to drop in at Bartholomew’s Meadery. Absolutely amazing … Continue reading Plain pasta for a few days.

Add a giant knob of butter! 😆

We’ve been driving from Margs to Denmark. It doesn’t take two days to drive that far, but we’re taking our time and stopped for the night in Manjimum overnight. I drove this time, the roads were straight but I accidentally packed the L-plates too far in the middle of the car to reach. Pretty soon Jon nodded off and I just drove quietly through the windy roads of the South West Forest region. It’s a truly magnificent area of the world, one we are very lucky to experience. On both sides of the road there are thick forests of tall … Continue reading Add a giant knob of butter! 😆

That time Tan had to push Jon up the hill (without the bucket of water).

Well what’s on today we here you ask? It’s safe to say I have recovered from my first drive (it only took 17 years to get there, to me Rome was built quicker 🤣). We went off to the Margaret River Farmers Market which technically could of been a Dog market because literally every man’s dog was there. Here’s some proof as Tan went around asking people if she could take photos of their dogs. We had the best pork dumplings, washed down with a coffee and lemon sugar mini pancakes for breakfast-dessert. Tan was much better at taking photos … Continue reading That time Tan had to push Jon up the hill (without the bucket of water).

Soggy Noodles.

We have the kind of luck you’d only see in cheesy movies. No really, I know what you’re all thinking – but our family’s lucky streak is non existent. So as it happens 24 hours after leaving we get struck with thunderstorms, high winds, rain and possible hail. We decided to get a little cottage for a few nights to dry out and escape the non-camping friendly weather. It’s 530am and were packing wet camping gear into wet bags and putting it on a wet car and Jon (bless his heart) says ‘I’ll drive to Simmos!’. So the first time … Continue reading Soggy Noodles.
