Uh-oh Spaghettio!

After what seems like a lifetime, we’ve started our trip back East. If anyone really knows me, then you understand that I’m only really ever ‘ready’ 5 minutes before I need to leave. Or 30 minutes after…

In true fashion, we tried to get ready on Saturday to find out the fridge cords were missing and we couldn’t pick them up until Monday. Yay! More time at Nannas.

Then on Monday, we go and pick up the cords and come home to realise again, they didn’t give us all the cords. By the time we got it sorted we decided Tuesday would be the day.

Tuesday comes around and we get so very nearly packed, when I accidentally had a panic attack while having my lunch. The reality of our lives and preparing for a trip at the same time means that we both often need to take the time to deal with our mental health.

So Jon bundles me up, takes me out for a coffee and we resign to the fact that maybe, in fact Wednesday is our day.

Guess what everyone! We made it! We repacked the few things we’d unpacked for the night and set off!

Guys, leaving your family and such a big situation behind after so long is hard. We cried like babies until we hit the freeway. So here we were, sitting on the Kwinana Freeway, wondering why we weren’t woo-hoo-ing at the start of our new chapter. But the reality is that we have known so much love and support over the last 18 months that it is so very hard to say goodbye.

We stopped crying, and also stopped at Black Diamond Lake for lunch before moving on to Stockton Lake for camp set up. It did take us a while to set up comfortably, and I casually decided this was the perfect time to rearrange the car (1st of many I predict). It’s been raining a bit the last few days so the wood is a bit damp, but tending to the fire is giving us something to do. The kind of something that feels like you’re achieving something. A duck joined us, then left and came back with 5 other ducks in tow. First time a duck has joined us for dinner instead of being for dinner.

Reading the weather forecast for the next 2 days is predicting thunderstorms, rain and possible hail. We’ve needed to run the fridge on the battery overnight so we’ve decided to bunker down in Margaret river for two nights to try and keep our stuff dry.

Until then spaghetti-heads!

PS. Dinner was soup and bagels. Delish but not very photo worthy!
